Sneaking in one last January post...

But it will be photoless this time.....

Busy days....trying to clear a room ready for redecoration. Very difficult when it contains probably over 1000 books- three-quarters of which I dont want to put away- I really don't. I guess books are my real luxury. I love strolling up and picking something interesting off the shelf Although must sheepishly admit that the shelves were so full it was sometimes difficult to pull anything off...

Assignment writing and revising.....module coming to an end. Trying to decide whether to continue or not...am enjoying the brain stretching and professionally getting a lot out of it...but am not sure that the family needs it right now...and I am not allowing myself any crafty distraction until at least the assignment is done (3 weeks to go)

Trying to decide where the future will take us and what our priorities are....

January flies by.....

I already knew that January was going to be a busy month- however as usual it takes me by surprise quite how fast it has rushed by..... not in the least aided by having DH STEAL some preparation days from me- by planning and executing the wonderful surprise of a two night break away with NO children!! In a hotel!

Soo off we went to Lincoln to the White Hart (nice- but then anything would have been!) and he had arranged a visit to RAF Scampton (Dambusters) to their Heritage collection- which was great- fascinating and humbling. The Red Arrows also happen to be there and we got to peek in their hanger- which made a certain 8 year old boy very jealous. We also had a lovely meal out and dessert from Patisserie Valerie and a wander round soem antique places (where one could NEVER take children).... as wellas doing a little last minute shopping in preparation for our holiday...
Skiing in Bulgaria (first time for all) plus the obligatory snow play and snow rabbit (???) building. SJ did Ski School with us and the younger ones went to Ski Kindergarten - where they also had ski lessons too.....
TP wasnt so sure about the whole stopping business but FI loved it and wanted to spend all day out rather than the relatively short session that they had
SJ loved being with the adults and earnt himself the nickname 'Kamikaze' from the instructor- needs to foster some slight humility- although a couple of the end of week runs had him respecting the slopes a little more. I soldiered on but took a badish fall (rather- had my feet swept out from under me by some superspeedy lout) which bashed my confidence a little (read 'a lot') so dropped out on the last day- more consolidation required me thinks.
Really good holiday and would do it again- but found a full week of ski school quite tiring for all.

Anyway straight back to the (pathetic) snow here- at least the snow boots and suits are all handy!
